Why was UEA canceled?

Sydney and Maia

UEA is the Utah Education Association, the largest public education union in the state of Utah. It represents more than 18,000 teachers who have gathered once a year for the past 100 years. This year it was canceled due to declining participation.  It was reported that last year only 1/4 of the 18,000 people attended. This is the first time in a 100 years it has been canceled. But the cancelation was too late for this year, the school calendars were already made so the students got the weekend off.  The way it’s been in previous years is the weekend of  UEA lined up with fall break and the teachers were able to go to the convention and the students were able to have sometime off.   Now the question is, will the students get a fall break next year?
