New Phone Rule at DPMS

Students and teachers at DPMS have different opinions on the new phone rule that was set at the beginning of the new 2021-2022 school year.

The new phone rule at DPMS states that you can not have your phones out from 7:25 until 2:30. Many students think the rule is unfair. Sloan Pratt in 8th grade on Team Heimdall said, “I can see where they’re coming from, but why can’t we have them at lunch and at passing periods?”

Most students are okay not using their phones during class but during passing periods and lunch are different.

On the other hand, many parents and staff think the new cell phone policy is fair. The principal at DPMS, Dr.Watts, said, “I think it’s a good thing. I think that kids should focus on learning and not their phone.” The teachers and parents think that the rule is great to help their kids focus on school work and not social media or games.
