Corner Canyon loses

Corner Canyon loses

Tanner M and Jaden A

Corner Canyon lost in the State Championship to Lone Peak at Rice Eccles Stadium on Friday November 19. The Game was a very high scoring game because of the lack of defense on both teams.

Lone Peak beat Corner Canyon earlier in the season breaking a multiple year winning streak.  Corner Canyon has won the past 3 state championships so this loss was hard.

Coach Kjar, Corner Canyon’s head coach, has lead the team in these past wins.

Even though Corner Canyon lost, they might have a chance to beat Lone Peak next year because Lone Peak is losing 36 seniors.  Lone Peak’s wide receiver and running back gave the Charger’s a run for their money at the state game.  Both of these top players are juniors and will return next year.

The Charger’s defense was lacking at Friday’s game.  This was surprising since the team had a winning season.

Corner Canyon is losing 22 seniors this year but there is hope as the younger players are strong.  There is a lot of depth at every single position.
