A Christmas with Covid

A Christmas with Covid

Gavin C. and Harris T.

While Christmas is just around the corner, it brings with it a whole lot of trouble. Starting on Nov. 24 a new Covid variant was reported to the world health organization. This new Covid variant was found in South Africa and is now called Omicron. It has the potential to pose a higher risk than any other one discovered so far. Delta Variant has less than 20 mutations but has still caused many health professionals and doctors trouble. Omicron has around 50 different mutations making it highly transmissible and even more dangerous than the delta variant. NPR news shows that over the past two weeks it has overtaken seven of South Africa’s nine provinces, quickly overtaking the country’s outbreak. This year’s Christmas season may look a little different, so good luck to all the Christmas travelers. Airlines have also reported to be increasing their tickets per person for flights. It might be a little bit harder to travel this year but it’s still possible. So have a very merry Christmas!
